More Exercise Will Not Improve Physical and Psychological Well-Being
Researchers in the field of exercise are now claiming that you don’t need to get sufficient exercise to improve your physical and psychological well-being. Debates have been ongoing about how intensely people need to work out to improve feelings of well-being. However, the experts haven’t arrived at a consensus with some stating that even moderate to vigorous physical activity is great while others are commenting that low-intensity exercise could perhaps be even better.

Have the Studies Been Substantiated by the Researchers?
The research has been conducted by using a group of volunteers over four days and the group was subjected to varying levels of physical activity ranging from moderate and intense low-intensity exercises. The volunteers were requested to describe their everyday exercise habits, overall psychological well-being, depression level, the severity of the pain and the extent to which the pain interfered with their daily activities.
The different intensity levels of physical activity provided a combination of psychological and analgesic benefits to the volunteers. It was observed that light intensity physical activity was associated with improving psychological well-being and reducing symptoms of depression. Physical activity of the moderate to vigorous level was associated with psychological well-being that was better and also provided an effect of pain relief.
Light intensity physical exercise has been described as the equivalent of taking a leisurely walk around the block with no signs of increasing the breath rate, heartbeat or beginning to sweat. Moderate level of physical activity is described as walking a mile in about 15 to 20 minutes and increasing the heart rate and breathing while also sweating but being able to continue carrying a composition. Vigorous activity has been defined as a brisk walk or jogging and completing a mile in about 13 minutes which would be accompanied by an increase in the heart rate, sweating and deep breathing. During vigorous exercise, it is difficult to maintain a conversation.
The research conducted should give people an understanding about the type of physical activity they need to get involved in if they are suffering from any of the conditions related to depression and other mental health conditions. The same will possibly apply to those who have been advised to exercise regularly in order to maintain their weight or for any other reasons. Research is available to show that exercise can provide the body with a number of benefits and can make people feel better simply because they are indulging in some physical activity.
~Charles Spurgeon Bob Filner
The fresh research which has been conducted should not dissuade people from exercising but the objective of sharing this information is just to make people aware they are not required to increase the intensity of their exercising but they just need to continue getting the physical activity regularly because it will provide benefits for their physical and psychological well-being.
