This Secret Workout Regime is How Channing Tatum’s ‘Magic Mike’ Body Floored Us All

So we know that you know this already, but actor Channing Tatum used to be a male stripper early on in his life. So needless to say, he did not need to do much research for his role in Magic Mike, which every woman wanted to see. The movie became a super hit, all thanks to Channing and his co-star’s shirtless-ness, and earned $113 million. For the second installment of the movie, Magic Mike: XXL, Tatum, once again had to get back in fighting shape – six pack included, duh! – and fast. Luckily, his long-time trainer and buddy, Arin Babaian, was there to help.

The first thing Arin did was to get rid of the usual one-hour workout session and he focused on a more fitness-conscious lifestyle, which let Tatum see results, but also have some fun doing it. For instance, if there was a particular day that he could not workout, he made sure to compensate by adding an additional workout session the next day.

Channing’s Routine began with a 20-mile bike ride, followed by a healthy breakfast of 6 eggs and a green smoothie. His morning workout consisted of 5 water burpees (one pool lap, jumping out, 10 sit-ups, jumping back in for another lap.) Lunch was usually chicken, vegetables and another green smoothie. Next was weight training, which included bench presses, shoulder presses and squats. Then came the crazy conditioning workout – running .25 miles at 7 mph, 10 immediate push ups, 10 pull ups, 20 jumping lunges, 15 knees-to-elbows, 30 sit-ups and 4 rounds of it all! As if that did not sound exhausting enough; after a grilled chicken dinner, Channing had to go on a 6 mile night run with a few sprints, to call it a day.

Phew! Just thinking about these exercises has us out of breath! But Channing did all this to get into shape for this movie, and the results are now captured on film forever, for all to see.
